Re: in the last three weeks several hundred thousands Athlons were shipped.

I recall a report that 80% of Dresden production is 1GHZ or higher, so I calculate 750,000 parts in the last 3 weeks. With just under 6 weeks left in the quarter, we should get another 1.4 million parts (actually, somewhat more, since Dresden is ramping steadily).

Sound about right?

Regards,

Dan

I hope we are still getting some Athlon production out of Austin that I am unaware of. I thought that all of Austin was to be moved to Duron by now, but maybe that has been slipped.

I just spoke with one of my vendors in Atlanta. He indicated that the 1G Athlon is selling like crazy (he retails them for $295). He also indicated that he was still selling a lot of "slot A Thunderbirds". He said that Asus (K7M and K7V) and others had tweaked their slot A boards to handle the T-bird chips as well as the classic Athlons.

My vendor friend also indicated that Duron sales were still slow. He did emphasize that Athlon sales had been blowing everything else completely away. If I get a chance to go over to Atlanta this week-end, I'll check with some of the other vendors on their sales.

I don't think Jerry has given us an accurate picture of total Athlon production, but I hope that he has been sand-bagging.

Andreas,

The Register reports 2M Athlons shipped

That seems very low. I was expecting about 3 million processors fromDresden to be available for sale in Q4.
