How do such self-financed candidates get paid back?

This is a case of the kettle calling the pot black. The Republicans had control of Congress since 1994. The failure to enact campaign finance reform is their fault. They have failed to lead and now they must go! <g>

Cantwell for sale to herself? Item doesn't make sense. But the Wall St Journal is partisan Republican as we all know.
I know a rich guy who financed his own campaign. He never got paid back a dime.
