That's not true. Not one of his advisors will go with that concept. The only way GWB will be able to govern effectively in the first 2 years will be to concede things to the Democrats. There is nothing inherently evil about that, the Democrats are not all 100% bad. Don't paint this as a black and white (pardon the pun) thing. The liberals in the country have a right to express their concerns. There are a lot of asshole Republicans, too. GWB can be a great president if he pays attention to the needs of the people in this country and he holds honor, integrity and honesty above the sewer that he's stepping around right now. Remember, these people are politicians. As a politician, you ignore the will of the voters at your peril. There is absolutely no reason to foster this division of ideology that has been used as a battle cry by the Democrats. The truth of the matter is that people can get along with each other. They really can. Most of them want to get along. Their leader can be an instrument for that if he chooses. If Bush knows that, he will be successful despite any opposition by anyone.

Col. Clueless: One thing I like about your posts is that you always let us know where you stand ... or, in your case ... sit ... which is on your dead butt, for the most part.

You and I have already agreed that both sides should fight this presidential election until one side runs out of bodies and/or ammunition. Which means if Gore wins, you will need to bury the hatchet and salute the new commander in chief smartly.

It's been a while since you've called me "Mr. Potato Head." Didn't I also use that one on you once?

By the way, the reason some of my union brethren are getting laid off is because of bad management combined with "the bottom line at any cost" attitude. In short, it's payback time now for a lot of the corporate downsizing that occurred '96-'98. A lot of these companies robbed Peter to pay Paul.

Gonna be a little hard for D-Dubya-I to get the ultra-right-wing Supreme Court justices now that the Senate is 50-50 and the fact that the two GOP female senators from Maine might as well be Democrats. They certainly didn't see Clinton's impeachment as did Orrin Hatchetman, for instance.

The Republicans I know and Mr. Bush will not waste time on revenge. These good men will work with democrats to implement government policy that gets the hand of the government out of the way of the people. They will work on putting in place programs that give opportunity to those in society that need it. The best place IMHO to work on this is with the needs of children and in particular with creating educational opportunity. Opportunity that is color blind. They may have to twist the arms of a few licking screaming democrats, but will do so with compassion.
