JM,

University admissions are nothing. The real travesty is the award of government contracts, based on affirmative action principles, and collective bargaining agreements for workers who have tremendous legal recourse in today's litigious climate to alleviate any devious wrongdoings which may compromise any worker's or company's physical, mental, or emotional well-being.

That stuff costs everyone directly, not indirectly.

But then again, this is not abut politics or doing the right thing. Everything in this election, and this nation, is about $$$$, with the exception of the fringe far right. Scary.

I agree. Those prizes should be solely merit based.

There is something very wrong with a legal system that will grant some of society's most
valuable prizes (such as admission to a university) based on skin color or gender- -and will
intentionally pick inferior candidates in doing so.

How about admissions awarded based on family connections?
Did Dubya's academic record and SAT scores qualify him for Yale?

... Mezz - I'm against gun control too. Go figure... :)
