Tom,
Re: PLMD...stops are out there...have been...just a trade.

Looking ahead, I fear the worst fallout: riots and looting like the Rodney King verdict.

I am the worst type of cynic....
It has gone on too long to matter....emotions have cooled. Business as usual. Now everyone expects it to drag out. It is not like we have an attention span on a national level...
Anyway....

Tom

I do not expect any bad fallout, riots etc., no matter which candidate wins. (Of course it will be Bush) But I do expect huge Democratic party gains in two years and four years. Most people were surprised to learn that the voters don't really matter and that state governments can control their electors in defiance of voter intentions. The result will be to make the national elections run by the Federal government and the winner determined by popular vote. A constitutional amendment to that effect will be the Democrat party platform in 2002. One person, one vote, all votes counted and all votes equal, that will be the slogan and will fuel a huge win.

Tom, I think you owe Rodney an apology...

I cannot imagine "riots and looting like the Rodney King verdict" over either Bush or Gore. More like "yawns" and "belching" if you ask me.

Anyway, more importantly, although I have not seen it discussed very much, somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but if Bush is certified as the winner on Sunday night, will the Bush camp withdraw its appeal to the US Sup. Ct.? The only reason I can see why they would continue to pursue it is because the Gore camp is already on record as saying they will "contest" the results. Otherwise, the US Sup. Ct should refuse to hear the appeal as it will have become "moot."

Apologies if you've already heard this one:

Anybody know how many Floridians it takes to screw in a lightbulb?
