Ron, I still haven't found the Begala piece. All I can find is the infamous paragraph, which was excerpted by a number of Bush supporters. I've found that the piece was called Banana Republicans and posted on MSNBC on November 13. If it's still there, I can't find it.

I was channel surfing last night and found myself in the middle of a discussion about the piece on Equal Time. I missed the beginning, but when I tuned in, Begala was saying that that paragraph was taken out of context. He said it had been presented as a straw man to make some point or other. My sense was that he was trying to illustrate some equivalent flaw in someone else's position. I dunno. If you run across the entire piece, I'd like to read it. In the meantime, I think it would be irresponsible to judge it.

There are numerous of this guy's type around. They love nothing more than to stir up hatred and strife.

Indeed this is largely how the large media functions today. Simplify everything to the point that it is nothing more than lies -- as long as it serves the interest of those they are for. Why is Clinton still in office and why is Gore allowed to run for office after the criminal behavior they have been involved in ... dogged and loyal support of the media. They play to all the best emotions -- fear, greed, hate, anxiety, envy -- you name it.
