the Economist article you linked says:
"...the median American share already has a P/E below the historic average"

They would be measuring what? Wilshire 5000? Do you know where one could find a leading or trailing aggregate p/e for the Wilshire?

I certainly don't disagree with their statement, given the long deterioration of market breadth, but it would be nice to be able to confirm that it's that low.
