I watched much of the MSNBC and FoxNews coverage today while involved with a painting project. I watched for about six hours. Observations:

1. The judges and observers in the room were clearly attempting to do a thorough, thankless job to the best of their abilities. The T.V. cameras and observers kept the process regimented and unrushed.

2. Outside of the counting rooms the "peaceful demonstraters" served no purpose at all except, of course, to intimidate and coerce. If the counters are going to count fully and fairly, moderated by observers and the media, what purpose the "chanting nobobs of negativism" (thanks, Spiro, for a great turn of phrase) outside?

3. The chattering class in the media will be so sad when this is all over. How many times can we hear the same people shouting over each other about "full and fair" counting? I swear if I had good editing equipment I could take the democratic and republican speakers and catch the same lines of argument over and over....the only thing changing are their spin topics (disenfranchised lower income voters vs. disenfranchised military voters).

4. It really does take at least two coats plus primer to cover a dark surface with a light paint.

Zeev,

Dave, reminiscence and equality, are not the same, see my retraction in my post to ekid.

Good, I agree. My reminiscence brought to mind the civil rights protests of the 60's by minorities and students -- a reaction to unfair government actions (to have the recount hidden from the public, which was the focus of the protest). But it certainly is not an equal situation.

That, my friend, is not the American way, just as targeting ballots of current military personnel for exclusion is not the American way, either.

I agree that intimidation should not stop or slow down the count. But if Dade had felt that they wanted to continue to counting, they could have done it in the same room they had been in (visible to the public) and the protesters would have most likely stopped. Remember, the primary chant was "Let Us In".

Dave

<edit: p.s. As I remember it, the canvassing board in Dade said that they didn't stop because they were intimidated, but rather that they wouldn't meet the deadline. That's supported by some comments just made on CNN.>

Hi Zeev Hed; So when the [90% democratic] blacks in LA rioted and broke the store windows of Korean shop keepers, killing some, burning and looting, did that remind you of the Nazis?
