Perhaps I have overestimated his integrity. He is better off conceding after the 5 pm certification. Then he can take what little high ground is left, the knowledge that: Bush will be elected because: - Miami Dade didn't do final recount, - The butterfly ballot stole votes from Gore. Gore is in a much stronger position if he leaves now, leaving a long shadow of doubt on the Bush presidency. I hope he gets his arm twisted by other Democrats. You probably are right that he won't concede. I knew that when I disagreed with you -- yours is the easy argument to make. However, if people who voted for Gore don't let their opinions be known, the remote possiblity that he will concede becomes even more remote. I favored Gore mostly because of his positions of the environment. Given current events, he will be unable to do anything substantive with regard to the environment if he gets elected, so there is no good for me in seeing him elected. Given his stand on the military ballots, he surely would be thrown from office in four years anyway. I'd like to see you and others on the thread tone down their hateful words with regard to this sad situation. The name calling and labeling will only make it more diffult to put this behind us. If you look at the tone of the people representing both candidates, the republicans are the angry ones here -- they need to back off at this point to help the healing process that will begin after this is all over and their man is in. It is okay for them to take a strong stand on their positions -- they need to remove the anger from their voices though. INTCfan
