It appears to me that the number of votes Gore picked up from the hand recount is nowhere near enough to counter what Bush would pick up from a hand recount of the Republican counties. At this point in time, Gore is just trying to (a) steal the election, or (b) delay the issue long enough to force the Florida legislature to deal with it, thereby obtaining a bloody shirt to wave at the next election. If they want to talk rule of law, well there it is, the Republicans got certified. If they want to talk complete vote counting, then they need to hand count the Republican counties. Instead, what they are asking for is hand counting their hand picked counties, and that is just not going to go over well.
