Just out of curiosity, since the Florida Supreme Court already refused to order Miami-Dade to recount the votes, and since there aren't enough votes from Palm Beach for Gore to win even if the late recount was accepted, where is Gore going to get the votes?

Gore already got what he wanted in Palm Beach - he got the judge to rule that the canvassing board should look at every questionable ballot to determine voter intent. The canvassing board did that. Get over it.

Re: Pending Case Before US Supreme Court

lml, I respectfully disagree.

And, Ken, I respectfully disagree with your disagreement. <ggg> We shall see who is correct on their forecast come next week.

Well, at least we can agree on the future prospects of NT. Looking north of 40 today. Hopefully, it will not dip south of 40 again. The stock is way oversold, and is now due for an upward correction.

Nice that lawyers are able to discuss this together. (I have been discussing it by PM with another SI lawyer so the legal arguments don't get bogged down in the hysteria).

But, KP, if you are right, why would they certify? Boies argued there was no federal jurisdiction at all. Obviously they disagree with him, and obviously they are right because there is a federal statute at issue.

My opinion is that the Supremes will hear the arguments, but wait to issue an opinion until the Fla courts have considered Gore's arguments. If they decide, or look like they will decide, that the rules should be changed yet again, the SC will step in and end it. If the Fla courts, despite being dominated by Democrats, end it, the SC will then declare the issue moot and not render a decision at all.

BTW, are either of you disturbed by the report that two of the Fla SC justices were contributors to the Gore campaign, yet didn't recuse themselves from hearing a case to which he was a party? To me, coming from a state (where KP also practices) which has a very high standard of judicial integrity, that it extraordinary. Virtually unbelievable.

By the way, KP, is your bar number legitimate, or is it a recycled? I thought people of your generation didn't even know that computers existed! <g>
