(NASDAQ: WAVC), today announced it has completed the first sale of its Last Mile SolutionÒ and NCL products in India. Capital Technologies Ltd. has purchased WaveRider's LMS2000 wireless Internet access system and NCL1155 wireless bridge/routers to establish a demonstration site in Hyderabad, the capital of Andra Pradesh, India. The sale marks WaveRider's first entry into India and the launch of Capital Technologies Ltd.'s fixed wireless Internet access capabilities. Capital Technologies plans to install and deploy its LMS2000 system in the first quarter of 2001. Upon regulatory approval of WaveRider's LMS product family in India, Capital Technologies intends to purchase additional systems to market and distribute to carriers and major businesses for deployment throughout the country. "The agreement with Capital Technologies is a major step towards establishing WaveRider's presence in India," said Michael Orloff, Vice President, Internatio nal, WaveRider Communications Inc. "We expect the demonstration site will attract the attention of carriers throughout the country and provide an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the LMS2000 to potential customers. " The LMS2000 system deployed as a demonstration site for Capital Technologies will include a network access point (NAP), a communications access point (CAP) and 25 end-user modems (EUMs). The company also purchased eight NCL1155 wireless bridge/routers to establish wireless communications networks for business customers in Hyderabad. A privately-held value-added reseller (VAR) of telecommunications products, Capital Technologies Ltd. has established an early presence in the fast growing Indian Internet market. According to a National Association of Softward and Service Companies study, the number of Internet users in India is expected to grow from the current 5.5 million to 50 million by the end of 2003.
