It is one of those unfortunately funny things. I too wish the entire election process was done. It is absurd to watch the approach taken to assuming a group of people can accurately determine the intent of an unknown voter.

I will curious to tune in at Noon.

Barrister .....

you just said .... "It did strike me funny."

I sent this to Scooter earlier today and I still find it "telling"
AND
funny ........

<<<<<<>>>>>>

I have one interesting anecdotal quote from the local lumber yard at 7am this morning ....
gent is a fairly large contractor in the area (30+houses per year) and is a YellowDogDemocrat, I mean a reallllly tough ol demo backer ....
and he had this statement ..
and I quote
...
>>>>> "IF a new election were held today in the entire USofA
and
these two idiots were on the ballot
AND
a ticket of Colin/StorminNorman were added ....

the vote wouldn't need any damn recount ....

it would be 95% Powell/Swartzskoff and the two idiots could sue/fight/argue bout who got 2.5000000001 percent and who got 2.4999999999 percent"

comments, anyone ?????????

I heard Gore put his speech off until evening so he can aid in the dinnertime digestive processes nationwide.

You know, though I voted for Bush, I am a little troubled by a couple of the things reportedly going on in Florida. The one county (was it Nassau?) that did a machine recount which turned up more votes for Gore but then submitted the original election night count -- what was that all about?

I also think that Miami/Dade's refusal to recount due to artificially imposed "time constraints" taints the whole process. I would rather have them complete their recount, throw out all the dimpled chads statewide, and come up with a number that can be respected, if not by both partisan sides, than at least by reasonable people (that would be you, me, and about twelve other people nationwide <g>)......

That nobody has stepped forward to deal with this appropriately is distressing. Maybe the Supremes will, but the posture of the case is such that I am not sure they can. They are reviewing a state court ruling which itself was flawed, and unless they abandon their strict constructionist pedigrees and conjure up some new Constitutional right to vote and have the vote counted in an objectively fair manner (which they then proceed to define) I just don't see them resolving the situation effectively.
