Brian,

While I think Gore should have conceded - for the sake of the country, his position that all votes be counted is a hard one to argue with. If the Repbulicans hadn't stood in the way of these counts this would all be done with. More importantly this is a very close election and Florida the closest contested state. The Republicans - rather than fighting for a recount should have supported a total state recount at the outset. If they had done this and worked with the demo's to agree upon criteria (like adults would should do) this would all be over. The fact is, the election was close - Florida even closer.. and with so many mis-read ballots and uncounted votes it is not only reasonable but sensible to do a full recount. The only reason the Bush team didn't want one was because they were already ahead... Reminds me of kids when they don't want to hear what they're friends are saying by plugging their ears and yelling.

The fact is the recounts have been obstructed.

Full disclosure.. I am a registered Republican and voted mostly republican but not for Bush because I don't think he is capable of running the United States. He is not polished and I wouldn't want him in the room with another head of state.
