Hi Phoenix,

You seem like a reasonable person (even if Ellen does like you <gg>). I think you have properly identified some of the issues of doing a statewide recount:
(1) It requires a consistent definition of what a vote is that is uniformly applied. If canvassing boards have a democratic bias in either making or applying the rules it gives an unfair advantage to Gore (remember the lady on Judge Burton's right that thought every ballot that didn't have Bush clearly indicated was a vote for Gore: georgewbush.com

(2) In the unlikely event that a uniform standard can be defined and uniformly applied it is reasonable to expect that the votes for both candidates would increase by a similar percentage thereby not changing the result.

(3) At best the election gets dragged out for a period of several weeks, thereby preventing President Elect Bush from getting his term of office properly planned and initiated.
