When I was 100% buying in QCOM I had my on-line account with E*Trade paying $19.95 a trade. It was killing me buying sometimes one share at a time.

Yikes!

Sharebuilder only charges $2 for regular buy orders -- and Buyandhold.com gives you unlimited trading for $10 a month. Plus they let you buy in exact dollar increments, including partial shares. No minimum, no maximum.

Even $8 and $10 commissions look expensive compared to these guys!

As far as I'm aware, nobody on this thread has mentioned this, so let me stick my neck out. If you're saving $50/month, why not put it into a no-load growth mutual fund? The reason is that you get built-in diversification. You can then, once every 9 months or so buy an individual stock.

Anybody else on this thread think that this idea has merit?
