Enam, what Srexely posted was a lie. The GOP prepared application was defective, not the ballot. It was their own fault. The Florida statute is very clear on this matter. Only the voter, a member of the voter's family or guardian can legally add the voter's registration number. What the GOP workers allegedly did was comit a Florida class 3 felony. The purpose of this law was the combat past absentee ballot abuses and frauds that had become rampant across Florida. So, this law was enacted for this very situation. In case of a criminal act there is only one choice: punish the criminal and disallow the benefits of the criminal act. This is standard American jurisprudence. The ballots should be voided.

>>>Lawdog. As I said yesterday, the Seminole County issue is the only real issue, imo, that Gore can stand on to contest the election. However, it is a very thorny problem. If what Srexely posted is true, the ballots themselves were defective, lacking a place for voters to put the necessary info. If this is the case, I have absolutely no idea what should be done in this case or how it could be remedied.<<<

Wouldn't this Seminole County absentee ballot issue be like the illegal Palm Beach County butterfly ballot where Buchanon got so many of Gore's votes? A tough luck, you-don't-get-the votes kind of thing? Ironically, perhaps karmacally as well, this would mean Bush could lose thousands of votes.
