But, Niles does make 8 figures.

What amazes me is that so few people realize that analysts don't get paid for being right, they get paid for being visible.

Being a wall street journal all star for stock picking for several years in a row may get you a decent bonus and a job at a second tier brokerage, but getting in the press and sucking up to the major institutional VOTERS in the Institutional Investors poll and winning I.I. a few years in a row gets you dragged over to the wire houses and 8 figures a year.

The sell side analysts that don't like kissing butts of the mutual fund portfolio managers that are less educated than 2nd graders about technology and make acting like lemmings look like original thought will probably end up quietly running a fund somewhere if they can find some partners with some courage.
