Exactly my point (please reread my post). You cannot blame science as you did in your original post, or even scientists as a group, but yes, there are nuts out there.

My slavery comment was in response to what you said about how our attitude toward the defenseless "dictate" (your word) our character and morality. Would you then say our founding fathers were immoral?

I disagree on the citizenship of a 2 week old fetus (or unborn child). I tend to lean more toward us being a mass of atoms, but being agnostic, I accept the possibility of G-D and souls and such (it would be much nicer if that turns out to be the truth). As you said, this is not up for debate, you either believe or you don't.

I agree there is a difference between tolerating and promoting. It was my impression that you were not into tolerating either... perhaps I was wrong.
