Do you remember what it was like in October 98? I remember well thinking how absurd the Nasdaq looked sitting at 1350 after all the hype about the internet and the dawn of the "information revolution" being upon us.

Today is no different except for the public explanations. There has simply been a ricochet of sentiment. It's a correction from an excess of high multiple booze. We of all people should have known that the booze ran out at this party when KK quit!!

The next party will start before too long. And things will start rolling when the drinking begins in earnest!

t2, tomorrow, the open, may be the low for the Naz for the year.
A lot of people will sell at the open...which of course,
sometimes is the worst mistake. Better to wait at least
30-45 min. to sell, if you must sell .

I told my wife to put a pre-market order with MER at the
open to buy JDSU, GLW , PMCS & NT.She bought 1/2 her
position today at the close. I am fully invested now,
100% equities in the last 7 days.
Pessimism can turn to optimism on a dime.
Lots of Institutional money on the sides.

It's always dark before the dawn....vbg

TA, It seems that the slowdown just got more severe in the last 30 days. The companies are siding on caution, probably making a bet that it is better to
surprise on the upside later...and then the stock goes up. I think Gateway wants to surprise and is taking advantage of the current stock market
conditions to guide lower.
If the trend continues, i think Greenspan cuts interest rates. The last increase this year is just hitting the economy. I can't believe these guys did their
projections so poorly.

The wealth effect is gone; that is why demand can just fall off of a cliff. I think if they don't cut rates this December, there could be serious damage to
the economy ahead. If the economic numbers are bad in the coming weeks, the FED will have no choice.
I think that will lead to semiconductor stocks to make the first move up.

BTW---I bet even if the FED did not raise interest rates earlier this year, I bet we would have seen the same demand drop. They were probably just
interfering in the market, unnecessarily.

I doubt it. Less than two weeks ago they said everything was fine. Now they preannounce. Over the next month half of the news headlines about GTW will be about Class Action Lawsuits. That's not a strategy I think any company would follow.
