I saw it all live. It was hysterical. Absolutely hysterical.

Judge Sauls knows EXACTLY what is going on. From my very limited experience in a courtroom (jury duty) I can assure you that most judges are good at what they do. Not good or bad, but they know the role in the screenplay. The ones I watched all had one quality: they have to not laugh out loud when some attorney does some really asinine thing.

I had jury duty one time where we had to decide if this guy had assaulted this other guy in broad daylight in front of hundreds of people, including an on-duty cop! The defendant's attorney was just comical. The defendant was this surly dood that stared at all the jurors like he wanted to slit their throats. (I think that's why they all voted me chairman of the jury. <G>)

I spent a lot of time watching the judge, and he really had his poo together.

Boies is good at what he does, make no mistake. His problem is that he assumed that Judge Sauls is a moron. Judge Sauls is not a moron, and Boies played his "you're a moron" card at the wrong time. If Sauls is smart, honest and ethical, he'll know that Boies has some hidden agenda that he is trying to forward using him (Sauls) and watch for more tricks. In fact, it's quite possible that Sauls did his "horses and ducks" schtick just to see if one of these fancy out-of-state lawyers would fall for it and play a card that would show their real hand. If he's not as bright as he should be, he'll just be pissed off at Boies. Either way, Boies screwed up big time.
