Carl, they reported some 70 chads on how many thousand cards handled? That is not what you would call a mess. It is a typical exponential decline, on first machine run, probably one chad on the average per card, on the second, one per 10 and on the third one per 100, or whatever the "half life time" is. The fact remains, that these attached (or unpunched) chads do not get loose from handling, or even severe abuse. I see a Republican pattern of trying to avoid finding out what really happened in that election, but sooner or later, the truth has a way of coming out. If the truth is different than what the preliminary results are, I do not think that the next presidency is going to be a "fun" one.

<ot>Hi Carl - while I don't enjoy mediocrity, I am against extreme groups like "Green Peace" and "Judicial Watch" who tend to use "the people" as their cover to forward their own agenda [Obviously, Green Peace is not the subject of discussion here, but I want to pointed out I am not one-sided.] Of course it is a big deal if their intent is to delay.

FWIW, I find the following quite a balanced article.

Personally, I am quite disappointed in the Bush camp keeps using "fraud" as the red herring. I understand this is a great propogranda technique --- you know, if they repeat the mantra long enough, it will stick. I see that politics and it is an insult to common folks' intelligence

best, Bosco
