You make a good point.

I wonder how afraid they are of details coming out regarding the Chinese, nuclear secrets, Russia and the Iranians, who knows what else.

<<U. S. Grant was an alcoholic, even being rumored to get hammered before and during battles. It was reported to Lincoln, since the Union was committing it's last army to this one man. Lincoln said "Find out what he's drinking, and issue it to all my generals.">>

It's gotcha time again Cyber. The above might explain why:

1. Lee, adjusted for his limited resources, outclassed Grant during the Civil War and all the way back to West Point. Lee was considered in the class of an Alexander the Great and Napoleon. "We could have beat those Yankees with pitch forks...trouble was, we couldn't get them to fight us with pitch forks".

2. Maybe it was the booze that helped explain why Grant's administration was so corrupt(not he, but the clowns he appointed).

3. As far as Lincoln's comment, you should have put it in proper perspective. It's not that Grant was so great, but rather all his predecessors were so bad (please recall that in the early years of the Civil War, the South was winning most of the battles). So, Grant(as compared to Sheridan and Sherman) was like the one eyed man in the Kingdom of the Blind...he was King.

Do you really think that liberals hate Bush? let alone resent that he is a patriot? The reality is that it is the Conservatives who hate Gore and Clinton before him.

The left has only really hated two Presidents...Nixon and Johnson. Even that "hatred" pales in comparison to how your camp feels about Clinton and Gore.

Re: "He threatens the Clinton personality cult"

Now that is a hoot. If Clinton was allowed to run against Georgie he would have walked away with the election - that is what 60% approval ratings allow.

And then the Rabid Right would really have their panties in a bunch.
