Pravin,

Good luck! Stick around SI if not AMD threads. I hope you will feel better after this "Perfect Storm" is over.

Regards,

panic

Pravin, I put what little I have left into CPQ.

Good choice, IMO. Best of luck to you.

Pravin:

"I was forced to liquidate my AMD position. These last 6 months have been a very expensive lesson for me (pretty much wiped me out). I put what little I have left into CPQ.

Good luck to everyone. I know there are others here that have also been ruined. As long as you have your health, keep things in perspective."

Your kind regards in the midst of your current turmoil are all the more appreciated. Thank you and godspeed!

Pravin,

Sorry to hear of your difficulties. From everything I can see and hear, tech is pretty much dead....at least for the next 6 months or longer. I hope you will consider some other sectors to put your $$$ in...I am not sure that CPQ is a very good bet right now; unless you are planning a quick trade.

Good luck.

Pravin, I feel for you. While I still have a lot of AMD shares in my IRA, I don't trade them. I have very little left to trade outside the IRA, but fortunately spent all my profits midyear on a home addition. If I hadn't, it would have been all lost.

<As long as you have your health, keep things in perspective.>

Good point. There are many things more valuable than AMD or Intel. Psalm 37 verse 4 is my motto

Pravin, Re: <I was forced...>

You and me both -- only I wasn't forced.

I did my dumping at the open today.

But the effect is the same. I'll have lots of short term losses to carry forward.

Good luck ... don't fight the fed ... buy at Thanksgiving and sell at Easter!

And all that stuff!

Pravin,

Sorry to hear that. If somebody told me in summer that AMD would be at 14, (28 pre-split), I would say they are crazy.

Pravin,

I moved to the Valley three years ago to get rich. I didn't happen and I'm heading back to Boulder for good tomorrow.

There are things much more important than money.

Pravin,

Really sorry to hear that.

I also like CPQ.

However if intel warns they will tank the overall market and cpq with it.

I hope that you hedge that position.

Another approach is to write PUTS.

If you get exercised you will have at least.

Somebody posted they sold a bunch of AMD $20 LEAPS for $6-7 or so - seemed like a DAMN good idea to me.

Anyhow - we are likely to see some warnings next couple of weeks so general advice is to be carefull.

regards,

Kash

Pravin,

I was very sorry to hear of your financial misfortune - I think you're right, that many here can empathize with your financial pain, and I hope somehow this becomes easier for you. It makes me think of a mentor of mine who said that he never met a really successful businessman who didn't have at least one really huge mistake in his history - the point being that even with experiences as painful as this, it can become our teacher, and help us to master our goals in the end. I, and many others here I guess, are still hanging on to this stock for dear life. I hope to meet you again someday, when you're at the top again, and can look back at this experience with less pain.
