What you tell me is very disturbing and I can understand why the armed forces are voting Republican.

I still think the Republican rhetoric in this election has been irresponsible, more so on the whole than the Democratic. The Republicans have been more ready to blast any effort against them regardless of the institutional damage.

Impugning the patriotism of one whole party can threaten civilian control of the military. Delegitimizing the election process, and attacking the integrity of a court that rules against you can threaten our legal system.

I think all the votes, absentee or not, should be counted if possible. But Bush could never agree to this because he would lose, no matter how many military votes you counted in. You just have to look at the locations of the old punch card voting machines with their 2% error rate.
