I am not disagreeing with you. Indeed, I have long given up trying to "time" this market. Just trading it. For example, I am in JDSU at 53 (I was hoping for 48 this morning, but so be it), sell stop 55. If it takes out 58 before taking me out, my stop will rise accordingly. I suspect at some point my rising sell stops will simply stop getting taken out altogether (as they get looser and looser as my profit rises). I can live with that. In the meantime, just trading...nervously. All longs.

How do you protect yourself after hours? Are sell stops still in effect then and do they go through fast enough when a stock sinks like a rock?
