NEC 0.1micron IC Integrates 62 Million Transistors

NEC Corp has developed a 0.095micron transistor-gate system IC with 62 million transistors, called CB-130 family, with orders to be taken from May 2001. The UX5 system IC process features 1.2V CMOS transistors and all-layer copper interconnect with low-k dielectric interlayers, providing 1GHz speed performance or battery operated low-power consumption.

The CB-130 family has three process libraries; CB-130H designed for 1GHz high speed applications such as graphics and high-end communications infrastructure, CB-130M with 350MHz moderate speed performance for low cost applications such as digital consumer products and cost-conscious networks and graphics, and CB-130L for low power applications such as mobile phones and PDAs.

The CB-130 family can cover a wide variety of applications including home electronics, office equipment, mobiles and automotives, to be converged into an Internet society.
