CNBC analyst stated "Intel may warn". His proof was PDAs and networking appliances taking over where PCs once were.

(CNBC then flashed a naked woman across the screen with a red lettered sign, INTEL MAY WARN, INTEL MAY WARN...well, if you didn't see the naked woman that's okay...my partner said she was there anyway)

Upon his statement around 1:30ET Dell sold off from $20 to $18.063.

Intel did the same. GTW and CPQ didn't sell off, however, probably because the specialists in those two stocks represent the NYSE. The NYSE has tended to demonostrate less volatility in trading the past few days.

The Nasdaq is full of gumshoe marketmakers.

The analyst possibly doesn't understand the current problems associated with PDAs and networked appliances, and why they pose little risk to PCs until the networks are built. By the time the networks are built, though, PCs will have adapted to the broader bands as well.

If the analyst did undertstand the current problems, then his comments regarding PDAs taking over were facetious and he's short Intel and Dell.

The price difference bw. a full bells and whistle PDA and a laptop or PC is negligible. PDAs and cell phones that are coming out with all the bells and whistles next year for GPRS data connectivity will sell for as high as $700 per unit. Some without go for around $200.

He liked RIMM's product (ge, guess what went up $10 today). But, possibly he has not had the wonderful opportunity to use the Red Raspberry. A better name for RIMM's product would have been Cream and Honey don't you think? How about Blackberry Puddin?

Dell needs to release their GPRS based PDA capable laptop and call it the SexyBerry. WallStreet would buy Dell's stock then. WallStreet likes sexy sounding names - especially if you say it's wireless and GPRS compliant (AWE is going GPRS per announcement yesterday with Nokia and Nortel et al)

hdl - re: <<so why is dell stock acting like a sick dog?>>

they say it is always in right in front of your eyes....well this is what just cuased me to initiate a Short position. All over the radio in Canada is the following Deal (one week only):

800mHz PIII
64 Gig Hard Drive
15" Monitor

for the US $ equivalent of just under or just over $500.00, depending on exchange rate used ($799 CDN)

So I phone and get one, since it is cheaper than fixing my screwed up Hard Drive, and the fellow says 10-14 Business Days for Delivery....The unit arrives in three days AT MY DOOR, so IMO, shipped next day.

Excellent Customer Service ?

Or month end push, combined with an awful inventory problem.

I have worked in the Packaged Goods industry long enough to know that if those PIII's they are selling were canned ham, there'd be an outbreak of Mad Cow disease.

Stale.

I smell trouble, FWIW, and as disclosure, this is my only stench. This is my first visit to this thread, and there is not a whole lot of research I have done except for these telltale signs.....

Regards,

Dave
