D.J. - I bought a Blackberry about 6 months ago - I now do about 80% of my email from it, and my laptop use has dropped substantially. And the blackberry is not a high end device in the handheld category.

I think you have your head in the sand on handhelds. My next buy will be an iPaq handheld - assuming my wife does not give me one for Christmas. A friend has one with the wireless hookup. He can read word and excel attachments on his email - the only weakness of the Blackberry - do web browsing which would be more than adequate for my needs, maintain his calendar, play music and read e-books, all in a package that fits in his shirt pocket. The color is crisp and easier to read in sunlight than any laptop I have ever seen. If I had one of those I might never buy another laptop.
