OT/Greetings Aggie. Thought this was interesting:

'According to The New York Times, Al Gore has shut out many of his campaign consultants and other aides. Joe Lieberman said that "most conversations have been the two of us with our wives and our lawyers." And Gore isn't anywhere near conceding. A former consultant said, "Al Gore is flying solo and not even willing to listen" to other points of view. "There is no Plan B and there is no talk of 2004."

Top campaign aide Carter Eskew said that Gore's inner circle is of one mind. And no one outside that inner circle is willing to question Gore's decision to forge ahead on a self-destructive path.'

Then add in the rock solid Democrat support which may remain in place with anything less than an overwhelming Gore defeat by the US Supremes:

Putting the pieces together of a possible scenario? IMO this is very far from being over. It's already clear that 12/12 is no longer the finale. Suddenly we're looking at 12/18.

How many extensions does that make now? Already stuck my neck a week ago saying this was going to year end at least.

And why not? If the article ref in the url above is right Gore can easily continue with democrat party backing while the biased media plows the road for him and questions every Bush victory as partisan and illegitimate.

But most important, we are close to a market inflection point where "off topic" becomes VERY On Topic.

As a professional investor, I've got no choice but to at least try to read the "political tape" in light of the severe impact these unpleasant but very real possibilities can eventually have on the markets I make my living from.

So far? This political crap has been fun and games for me to post about. But, to date, it's been mostly a side show. Now IMO, we're rapidly reaching the point where foreign investors are going to fly the coop in a big way. Then LOOK OUT troops!

Trust me once that happens, people here and everywhere else in this market will forget about trying to call "the bottom" for the OSX or anything else! It will be the "recognition phase" in this Bear Market. And the mindset of posters and players here will change a great deal. Have been through several papa Bear markets and seen it all before.

So for me? An evaluation of the severity & duration this political mayhem is becoming more and more a part of "Tak'in Care of Business"(G)

Best
