You are a scientist. There really isn't anything liberal or conservative about science. It is the study of observations. What is not observable is not it's province. Faith, God, spirits, are not observable and testable. They are not part of science. Scientists can certainly have faith, and one would like them to be kind, compassionate and moral, whether or not they have faith (one would like that in all people) but faith should not be part of science.
