LPS5 Boxing Picks, 2000

Since we started keeping track of these in May, it's not a complete year. But, because Trinidad-Vargas is the last major fight of this year, now's as good a time as any to post my outcomes. For some of the fights, I merely chose a fighter; for the majority, I chose the round as well w/the two round bracket rule in effect.

It wasn't too bad of a year, overall, but I'm generally subpar in picking from the 147 to the 168 space.

LPS,

It was a very good fight and Trinidad was impressive. I believe that Vargas was very tight going in and Trinidad took advantage of it in the first round. To Vargas' credit, he hung tough but the early pounding and Tito's low blows took their toll.

My assessment of the fight going in did underestimate Trinidad. I've never seen him look better. Vargas' acquitted himself well in losing. I'm disappointed in the result and $200 lighter in the wallet, but it was entertaining.

I continue to contend that Mosely would be too fast for Tito, but I would love to see that fight. I think that Trinidad/Joppy would be interesting as well. It would be a mistake, however, for Trinidad to take on Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins is just too big, too strong and too tenacious in my opinion. The same can be said for Roy Jones Jr. JMHO
