I noted the BIFFOON thread on RB last night was very hostile. Although many defend it, I believe they just want someone to hold the wire up while they slip under the fence.

Wasn't there another BB 3 yeas ago that had some secret fuel or battery? Maybe both?

Yes, you could run directional microwave stations from build to the base station to the BIFS office. In fact OTC does have a wireless bridge that will do this. However, this raises a number of other technical issues. There are real limits to how large you want to get your subnet to get. You really don't want to bridge more than 1 or 2 segments, or you risk some real performance problems.
