Steve~

I have had my say against the Catholic Record. History makes them an awfully big target for criticism. I am not, however, one of their direct victims, so my opposition to them is (I sincerely hope), no different than my resistance to anything else that I consider to be a threat to freedom.

Any Institution that claims to work the commands of a Supernatural Force, and to be entitled to act as the Agent of that Principle, in the Service of Mankind-That Institution must never again be allowed the POWER to carry out their vainglorious MANDATE.

Other than that, Steve, I have nothing in particular against the Catholic Church.

Bacause the Religious appetite for power, can be obscured and justified by the secrets and mysteries of the Supernatural--it remains dangerous, not merely of itself--but as a pawn in the Political appetite for power. There are countless people, who cannot be swayed by self serving reason, yet are prepared to plunge into battle like banshees, at the first appeal of those defending the mysteries and the secrets. You probably know better than I, Steve, how much of the world is doing this very thing even as we correspond.

Averagejoe is not mistaken in that I am opposed to all dictators, or dictatorships, that wish to impose their Truth upon anyone else. I guess he would have no problem with this, if only I would leave the Catholic Church out of it...

Steven--You bring up a point I was going to make about Bishop Land. I noted where he called Solon 'a mouthpiece of Satan'.
Yet when I take the viewpoint of how I think a Christian would see Land he seems a better candidate for that title. He does not live up to a Christian creed at all to my mind. He viciously attacks the innocent, lies, speaks for God, states someone who just died is 'undoubtably in Hell' thereby alienating everyone who has heard the comment on SI, hides behind the Bible while spouting hate, and basically on a thread dominated by people who are not religious makes them very glad they don't share his.
<<one Chris does more harm to the Christian cause than a dozen Solons.>>
Interesting isn't it, and he thinks himself fighting 'God's fight'.
All the Best
Druss

How would you know? Did you go take a poll? Did you consult your nearest priest? Did you read a verse that said Christians are to only be nice and never tell the truth about sin? Now what if we increase the numbers, would that mean 2 of me does more harm than 2 dozen Solons, or do we use a different multiple?
