AstroPower and Elkem Form Alliance To Supply Silicon Feedstock to Solar Industry biz.yahoo.com This could go a long ways toward easing any investor concerns about Astropower's access to affordable Si stock in sufficient quantity to satisfy their production capacity growth. Astropower has traditionally relied primarily on wafers discarded by the semiconductor industry; this leads to a likely supply constraint if their capacity grows faster than the semiconductor waste supply (which has seemed imminent). It also, for better or worse, diversifies (extends?) Astropower's exposure to the Si-based solar PV production industry. Randy
