You may be right. A lot of what happens with JDSU will depend upon the metro buildout in the coming years. However, they also benefit from wireless networks as well.
I would point out that many of communication chip companies say they grow even if their customers don't; due to an increase of complexity and moves to outsourcing trends.

MU is risky but I am betting that buyers will be using these uncertain times to inititate some positions. If DRAM gets too cheap, capacity expansion plans go on hold--reducing capacity leading to higher prices. I am betting on that scenario unfolding sometime next year but want to be in the stock now.

From a trading perspective a nice bounce is definitely in the cards.

Would you consider such rally of any significance even under the current political fiasco?

While I agree that a rally could occur, I do not see how it could have any strength if the presidential issue is not resolved.
