Carl, you are absolutely right, that is why I was in favor of Gore suggestion to get the whole state recounted. I think that they would have had to get a special "dispensation", since Bush did not request counting anywhere else in the 72 hours allotted, but if both parties agreed, I am sure that a legal way could have been found. Now, it is a little too late.

They still have the time, I think, to run the ballots through the machines and examine manually only those that returned no votes for president, that should be between 1% to 5% of all votes, and probably 25% of these will found to have been real votes. Ihave no idea who would win, but I am sure that whatever the results, it will not be as controversial as whatever comes out of the current "fracas".
