Hi Poet,

I am actually late for the office this morning waiting for the decision from the U.S. Supreme Court...you are right about the market selling down if it is a positive decision for Gore...although I expect it to be short-lived as the most the U.S. Supreme Court can do for Gore is leave intact the Florida Supreme court decision...the more volatile decision is Judge Sauls ruling (Gore contestation lawsuit)...this one could lower the boom...If he does order a recount he will also set out the standard for counting ballots (i.e. hanging chads, dimples etc.)...if the standard is fairly strict, that is of course bad for Gore, but if he uses the liberal standard employed by some Florida canvassing boards, Bush can take that smug look off his face, neither Daddy or his little brother will be able to save his bacon....

Have a good day...will post if i can...

I think they are waiting for the Leon county decision. As I see it, the Judge Saul was expected to announce his decision this morning--then it was changed to noon---and now people expect a decision around 2 PM.

Why does that matter?

To me it sends a subtle signal that he may be ruling against Gore. If it was going to be favorable to Gore, I think he would want his decision out ASAP so that the recount can start. Now I "sense" it is against Gore and Judge Saul wants to make sure his decision is reasoned well and will be able to go through FLA Supreme Court scrunity.

Of course, I could be way off in my logic.
