Rubner: I never told Akirov investment in Net2Wireless was a bargain

05.12.2000 19:47

Net2Wireless chairman David Rubner today expressed optimism about the company’s future. This followed yesterday’s announcement that Nasdaq had canceled the reverse merger between Net2Wireless and stock exchange shell company Sensar (Nasdaq: SCII).

“Net2Wireless is a company with good technology, and a superb workforce. It will continue this way. We are carrying out field trials in various places around the world. We have good customers, and I hope the company will succeed,” Rubner told :Globes”

Regarding the suit brought by Alfred Akirov’s Alrov yesterday claiming that false representation had been made to it when it invested $5 million in Net2Wireless, Rubner said, “The claims are baseless and untenable. Akirov simply wanted to cancel the investment. He knows there is nothing to his claims. We have approached legal counsel.”

Rubner said he had never mentioned anything to Akirov about the investment being at a “bargain price”.

Rubner: Alfred Akirov quarrelsome individual of long standing

Yitzhak Danon
14.01.2001 15:57

”The prospect of making a fat profit in a short time tempted Akirov and the claimant, in view of the possibility of improving the economic situation of the claimant or the Alrov group, which had run into problems,” Net2Wireless chairman David Rubner and Net2Wireless claim in their statement of defense, responding to the statement of claim made by Alrov Real Estate and Hotels, which is controlled by Alfred Akirov.

The statement of defense added, “The investment agreement included many warnings. Now that the claimant and Akirov have found out that their hope of a speedy exit involving a fat profit has been frustrated, they are trying to jump off the bandwagon on dishonest pretexts, instead of courageously coping with the consequences of their decision to make a risk-intensive investment.”

The claimants are asking the court to order Rubner and Net2Wireless to reimburse its $5 million investment in Net2Wireless, on the grounds of false presentation.
