CB--That is the first time I heard that...I was under the impression that her action on the 26th was a certification.

When will she be able to certify? If today's USSC order resulted in the FL SC order being vacated, then what is required to permit her to certify and have that certification stick.

What a mess! What has to happen to correct this? Can Harris go back to the FL SC and ask that they allow her to certify? It's not even clear now that this is possible. If her existing certification is voided, there is no certainty that the matter will be resolved by the deadline, since whatever the FL SC does it will have to be reviewed yet again by the US SC, not so?

Seems like this will light a fire under the FL legislature to act. IMO this was the "nuclear option" at the end of Gore's legal strategy. My reading of the constitution suggests that it's a Gore win if the FL electors are not certified, since the winner must get only "a majority of the electors appointed". What, legally, is meant by "appointed"? The total allotted, meaning Gore needs 271, or the total certified, meaning Gore doesn't need FL if FL isn't counted?
