I think what Barry Richard was referring to was Sauls' endorsement of the argument by the intervenors that only a statewide recount was proper because cherry-picking Democratic counties skewed, and would skew, the recount results. Those intervenors and their lawyers represent the real America. Bush and Gore's lawyers represent the candidates. There is some overlap but the interests are not identical. Hats off to Sauls for recognizing that. Hats off to the intervenors and their lawyers for having the guts to come into court and withstand the contempt of the "real" lawyers.
