Rarebird, sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Looks like old CUBE may be hitting 8 bucks pretty soon now. The digital gold link you posted was pretty interesting. The two purposes of money are first as medium of exchange and second as a holder of value. I think that many on the gold thread think that the second is the primary purpose of money and it just blows their mind that paper currencies can exist without being tied to anything concrete like gold. Of course the real reason for having money is the first and money has value only a consequence of the first. As technology permits it I see a decoupling of the value of money from its purpose as a medium of exchange. I suppose that we will always need a common denominator so that it will be easier to keep score, but I see currency being replaced by not only digital gold, but also digital land, digital S&P 500 shares, digital loan portfolios, and even digital sheep, as AT&T hints at in their cell phone commercials.
