I think the only reason the legislature backed off was they felt Judge Sauls was going to rule for Bush. Gore is supporting the Seminole County case now because that represents his best shot. The fact determinations in Sauls' ruling are difficult to overturn and almost impossible to do quickly unless they (FSC) really want to make a bold move.

Disqualification of ballots over a technicality could enrage Republicans even more than manually counting dimples.
I'm sure Florida's legislature will rise to the occasion if necessary. Realistically, the manual recount thing is played with time running out. They would have a max of 72 hours to accomplish it if Florida's Supreme Court rules on Friday.

This fight has the potential to get 10 times as nasty as it has been so far.
