ThirdEye, We need to quit looking in the rear view mirror. Today every person has equal opportunity. However, you can't see that if you are dwelling on the past and seeing things that are not there. When you listen to the Jesse Jacksons and the Al Sharptons you will be told you are being oppressed. Remember, that is how they make their living and how they retain power. If black people stepped out from behind the curtain of being African-American and simply became American and ignored race but looked for opportunity much could be achieved. Look at Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, J.C. Watts, and many other people who are highly successful and respected. Democrats work at dividing us because by doing so they can retain power over you. In reality, we are all people, some more talented, some more intelligent, some more motivated, etc. but race should not be a consideration. What should be the major consideration is the character of the person. Unfortunately, black leaders like Jackson, Sharpton and Farrakhan keep race in play because without it they would have to get a job. Don't look in the rear view mirror. That is only history and to be learned from. Look forward. The door is now open. You only have to walk through it.

ThirdEye,
Frank Griffin made some excellent points in his post #3357. As long as your are conditioned to think that 'you are a victim' then you will always be subservient to the masters that propagate this message. The Democratic Party has done a great job of creating a dependent following who feel that they are victims. Of course, the Democrats will always offer solutions that will help to maintain the dependence of black voters. They must keep the black vote dependent on their party. They must ensure that the 'victimatization' mentality is maintained.
