sure hope you don't run into any probs and have to uninstall/reinstall!!

me too...aol really surprised me letting me stay online for that long without one of thier famous bump-offs. Didn't use cable download and zip disk transfer. Norton is using something called a Vbox to download with (maybe a temp folder of some kind) and I wasn't sure I would be able to tranfer everything that was needed. There probably was an option or info somewhere telling me but I missed it.

i'll bet your friends are very happy right about now, huh?

LOL...they think I am Einstein. :-)

so was it aol5.0 that was causing probs all along?

Windows me has some shutdown issues of it's own. You think $Bill wants you to cut him off? Not! Aol 5 has some issues with being unable to connect on the first try with Me and some modems that currently (as far as I could find out) can not be fixed. Aol 6 does not have this problem. I was hesitant to go with 6.0 after Langa-letter said he was coming out with info about his tests of MSN Explorer and aol 6.0.

Here's the article:

winmag.com

I wouldn't want it for myself but my friends wanted aol...so they got it. Manually fixing some of the security issues would be nice if I could find specific instructions. Bottom line...stay with your 4.0

tc :-)

A hint ...

I have trouble remembering stuff I don't use regularly. I use a trick to recall some of the key combinations of the Windows key, (that key with a flying Windows logo) that works for me. I think of FRED. A short name, and since I know a Fred, easy enough to remember. Here's how the key works.

Windows+F opens Find
Windows+R opens Run
Windows+E opens Explorer
Windows+D Desktop: Maximizes or minimizes all windows

Windows+Pause, which opens Properties, I usually forget.

I find I only learn key combinations one at a time, and only remember them if I use them regularly. That way, I quickly forget what I don't use.

Can anyone defrag a brain?

Cheers, PW.

hi mark,

i am pleased to read your success with win2000pro. one of this days, i too will step up to it.
i have a problem, yet to see addressed in the tread, here it goes:
i split the DSL signal with a hub to two pc's. i only have one email address from the DSL ISP so i had to get the free emails such as excite.com or email.com. the problem is that
i can not excess those from outlook, outlook express or from eudora, only from their website. can anyone point me to the direction how to get those emails delivered without having to log on to each site?
