Amy,

Colorado recently voted down an amendment (24) which would have given voters some control over growth. Real estate developers ran a massive fear campaign, claiming that it is "too extreme for Colorado".

They argued that growth is best managed by the "natural ebb and flow of the construction cycle".

I suspect that a field trip to Silicon Valley might have changed a few peoples minds about allowing Real Estate developers to control growth. I remember Santa Clara as a semi-rural community in the early 80's. You know, like "Do you know the way to San Jose?" ;^)

Re: "Intel (and Packard Foundation) have donated money to an organization that promotes the growth of trees in order to make the Bay Area a better place to live"

The entire Bay Area was once a lush Redwood forest. In fact the largest Coastal Redwood stump ever measured was in Oakland.

Plant a Redwood.
