No such thing as free Internet access, AltaVista says
Internet search engine AltaVista Co. said it would end its free Internet
access because 1stUp, its affiliate company that had provided the
service, is going out of business. AltaVista, which is owned by CMGI
Inc., had signed up three million customers for the free service, which
provides Internet connection at no cost in exchange for placing a
permanent advertising window on customers' computer screens.
AltaVista's spokesman said that while the free service had helped drive
traffic to its site, it never generated any revenues.

Actually, I have to admit that I haven't followed Greenspan enough to know how this speech compared to his other ones..

I personally didn't hear anything that exciting in his speech... but obviously the market liked it.. I did hear that one of the other fed members came out to try to tone things down a bit yesterday afternoon..

I definitely don't see Greenspan lowering rates in Dec.. I think he may go to nuetral, but if the market rallys rediculously, even that may not happen..

It seems that he wanted to stabilize the fall though, which is good.. I honestly don't know what the fed would do, but my take on that speech was not nearly as optimistic as the markets.. I'm looking to sell all longs into this rally, and maybe even play some shorts in the next week.. I definitely won't go into the next FOMC meeting short though..

I rarely play short.. I am committed to developing the skill though..
