Greg, the move by the Fla. Legislature is to counter the Gore Petition to the Fla. Sp. Ct. to "Decertify" the Election results. I believe the Legislature is "throwing down the gauntlet" as the US Sp. Ct's opinion made it clear that the US Constitution left choosing Presidential Electors to the State Legislatures not the State Courts. The move by the Legislature sends a message to the Fla. Sp. Ct. to give full sway to the US Sup. Ct. opinion and stay out of it. It also shows that by some trick of timing the Fla. Sup. Ct. will not be able to "decertify" Fla's electors such that Fla. will not be represented at the Electoral College...I understand you not liking it, but with Gore appearing delusional and not willing to concede, steps must be taken to keep up in the "Chess Game".

re special legislative session -- I don't like it either. Fortunately, I still have a banana republic gift certificate from last xmas. I'll have to get appropriately attired for the legislative session.

Greg, what most Americans haven't been told by the media or anyone else is that it is the Florida legislature's CONSTITUTIONAL AND STATUTORY DUTY to do this. Gore, Jackson, the Demolibs, the media, NOW, AFL-CIO, AFSCME, and others haven't been telling you what the Constitution and THE LAW REQUIRES. The media just provides some flimsy survey. The United States Supreme Court told the Florida Legislature to do what it is empowered to do, but the frickin' Demolibs are betting that the Republicans will back down to avoid confrontation. Well, it's too da** late for that. This is a game of chicken that the Demolibs are willing to play to the end, just because they know that historically the Republicans won't stand up. This time, I think the Republicans will stand up.
