can you say how long it takes to confirm an SP order?
I imagine they must have the process refined somewhat (like, I would hope the order gets "wired" down and back relatively fast... regardless, I'm sure you'd get killed in a fast market)

That is not entirely true. I believe that 30 contracts emini goes to open outcry. It used to be 100 contracts. The day I was at the pit I was standing next to the banks of computer guys that were scalping the emini against the large and I saw a 100 open outcry get done. Someone told me it is now 30 for open outcry. However, it is not a trading pit per se, at least it wasn't then. Just a bunch of traders on the side of the pit that use the computers to trade. They yell at each other when a 30 lot is done.
