Did you think the stock was overpriced last week, last month, two months ago?? If your not long on the stock, what's your fascination with this thread, defending people who make a ridiculous unsubstantiated statement like, "Q will be lucky if it's at this price 3 years from now."

The guy said he likes the stock, doesn't like the price. What on earth is wrong with that? It's selling at a near-triple digit PE, for cryin' out loud! Some of y'all are acting like you're three years old and the bully down the street just stuck a screwdriver into your Barney doll.

Is *no* price to rich for this stock? Would you be buying it tomorrow if it was trading at, say, $2k? Probably not, which makes the difference between the two of you - and with me - one of degree, not of kind.

That's all fascinating stuff, but has nothing to do with my post. Go back and read it. I was responding to the suggestion that "QCOM will be lucky to be at this price a few years from now." That suggests to me that he knows squat about the company, about CDMA, about what is going to happen over the next 3 years. The current stock price ±20 points and whether or not we're currently in a bear market are completely irrelevant to that point. Excuse me, but can I borrow your Barney doll?

I think you're looking at the trailing p/e, which doesn't mean very much. It means even less if you don't adjust for one time events and discontinued operations.

If you're trying to value qcom, might it not be better to examine it in terms of future earnings? Imho, free cash flow analysis would be best.
